THE JUNGIAN PSYCHOLOGY

THE JUNGIAN PSYCHOLOGY I had the chance and the energy to catch up on some reading, and a section in Dr. Murray Stein’s book, where he is surveying Jungian Psychology, caught my attention. One of the earlier chapters about energy, and how the mind uses it to adapt to its environment, gave me an idea for an experiment to boost one’s control over themselves and be influenced less by their mental constraints by feeding their inner world less energy. The book talks about how when a person is in the process of adapting to his or her environment, they use their mental energy (or as the book calls it, ‘psychic energy’ but that can be confused with less scientific terms)  from a pool of energy, and while generally that energy is used to adapt to one’s environment when that adaptation is complete, the energy does not just go away but begins to sip into their inner world.  This is described as a form of introspection etc., but one thing that we also observe is that after the recovery from the last challenge, a person goes into a stagnant state and begins to regress. This makes perfect sense if you consider that now this person is adapting to their new environment of less challenge. Hence the Roman saying, “comfort breeds complacency and weakness.” I also have a hypothesis, in addition to this adage in the light, that when you are not expending energy to push yourself that energy that goes inwards will feed a person’s complexes, make new ones, and will feed mental problems. The way I like to imagine it is, that if the mind is a factory,  sending too much energy or resources that are not designed to receive so much will lead to leakage or breakage which will cause it to drain even more resources until it is fixed.  Now that the holiday season is over, it is the best time to remind ourselves — that if we are not moving forward, we are moving backward. Not pushing ourselves to achieve our goals, no matter how trivial, will keep us healthy, and should, hopefully, prevent the problems inside ourselves.  During this time, we need to pick our battles and priorities, but just keeping ourselves fighting, can be a victory in/itself. Manifest Diversity

With so many cultures, races and ethnic groups from around the world, wouldn’t it be beneficial to work together instead of against each other?  Why must we ignore the strengths, talents and abilities of those who are different? Is it hard to believe that we can share experiences, knowledge and stories from diverse perspectives of diverse peoples?  Think about all the stories you heard, think about the languages, beliefs and lifestyles. How about the music, do you see any similarities, any differences? What message did you receive? How do you make sense of what you just experienced? These are the questions Manifest Diversity answers. It is a collaboration of experiences, stories and narratives from people around the world. It is about working together to find the collective conscious of people in all shapes and forms. Manifest Diversity does not discriminate. We welcome anyone and anything that creates understanding, respect and compassion. How amazing it would be if we just take the time to learn about each other, find each other and to believe and accept each other. We would like for you to take the time and visit our “manifest diversity community”, a community where judgement, discrimination, hate, racism is not welcomed. The mission of manifest diversity is to establish a society without the ills presently in place in our world. This is the sole mission and purpose of the manifest diversity.  In order to accomplish and move toward this mission, we must commit to the following responsibilities as human beings on this planet: ¨ We must understand the meaning of diversity ¨ We must collaborate in sharing the human experience. ¨ We must support the contributions of other cultures ¨ We must promote the goodwill and charity of all cultures This is an on-going journey, the discovery, visibility, and acceptance of all cultures to live together in harmony.  THE IMMIGRANTS ARE COMING, THE IMMIGRANTS ARE COMING

THE IMMIGRANTS ARE COMING, THE IMMIGRANTS ARE COMING This is the new era of the immigrants entering the United States! I have noticed a drastic difference between then and now, here in Buffalo, New York. Nationalities I’ve never even heard of, such as, Mandarin, is totally new to me. I decided to investigate, conduct research on the subject. Here is my first article on the subject: More will come, as I intend to learn more about the immigration problem — curious of the statistics at hand, statistics here in the U.S.A., and other countries. In absolute numbers, the United States has a larger immigrant population than any other country, with 47 million as of 2015.   The U.S. foreign born population reached 47 million, and is predicted to reach 78 million, there are twenty Metropolitan areas with the longest number of immigrants. Wow, now that is a lot!  According to the 2016 immigrant statistics, the U.S. admitted 1.18 million legal Immigrants. Of these, 48% were immediate relatives of U.S. citizens, 20% were family-sponsored, 13% refugee, and asylum seekers, 12% were employment based preference, 4.2% were part of Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, persons admitted under the Nicaraguan, and Central American Relief Act, children born subsequent to the issuance of a parent’s Visa, and certain parolees from the from Soviet Union, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, who were denied refugee status. 1.4% were victims of a crime, or their family members, and 1.0% who were granted the Special Immigrant Visa, (SIV) for Iraqis, and Afghans employed by U.S. government. The remaining 0.4%, including 0.2% who were ranted suspension or deportation, as an immigrant relative of a citizen. As for our good neighbor across the border, Canada’s popularity is the immigrants’ preferred destination. It has been increasing over the past two decades, with a total of 303,257 immigrants coming to the country in 2018. This figure has minimized, since 2016, when about 323,190 immigrants came to Canada, which is more than the estimated 199,170 immigrants in 2003. With this extreme population of immigrants, could the U.S. become over-populated in the future?  It’s a wonder why President Trump is trying to control the number of people crossing our borders. First part of a series on immigration, by Dinah Aponte.
