En la union esta la fuerza y la fortaleza! Llego la nueva era gubernamental y con ella nuevos desafios, retos y un nuevo amanecer. La presidencia Biden-Harris es un nuevo amanecer lleno de esperanzas y una agenda de progreso domestico y de politica internacional impresionante. Este es el momento de descartar estructuras y modelos de administracion publica que no trabajan,y adoptar modelos viables con prudencia fiscal. Vivimos momentos desafiantes y extremadamente dificiles! Necesitamos combartir la propagacion del Covid 19 y parar sus nuevas mutaciones (cepas). Necesitamos un plan de distribucion de vacunas funcional. Y una de las cosas mas primordiales, necesitamos trabajar juntos como nacion tomando en cuenta los denominadores comunes de saludbridad publica, preservacion a la vida y desarrollo economico. Son muchos los desafios, y cada uno de ellos conlleva un plan de accion que pueda responder a las necesidades de las diversas poblaciones sin olvidar a los mas vulnerables. Me pregunto una y otra vez, como lo vamos a  lograr…y se que tenemos que empezar por tomar responsabilidad individual y colectiva ante la propagacion del Covid. Empezemos por entender lo simple e importante de usar una mascarilla. Usemosla con conciencia y responsabilidad. Continuemos apoyando las medidas sanitarias y demandemos un mayor desarrollo de la distribucion de las vacunas en nuestras comunidades. Contactemos a nuestros representantes y apoyemos planes logicos y viables de distribucion. Necesitamos trazar metas comunes para poder levantarnos juntos. Sin salud, no hay nada! No podemos edificar una agenda de progreso sin salud! El nuevo amanecer lleva consigo nuevas oportunidades y nuevas responsabilidades. Una de ellas es la participacion civica junto a la oportunidad equitativa! Levantemos nuestras voces a la edificacion de nuestra salud,  educacion y  prosperidad. Juntos podemos, aislados y en conflicto el uno con el otro no lo haremos. En la unidad se encuentra la clave para prosperidad, estabilizacion y edificacion. Toma un momento, piensa, planifica y actua! Hay muchas cosas por hacer! Una de ellas es cuidarnos y cuidar de nuestra comunidad. Empezemos por lo basico: mascarilla, distanciamiento social y vacunacion. Recuerda, necesitas estar bien y cuidarte para poder edificar a tu familia y a tu comunidad! Feliz mes del amor y la amistad! GOOD DAYS ARE COMING It is now February 2021 and since we last touched base, we have been witnesses to a failed insurrection, a presidential impeachment and a presidential inauguration. And that was just the first three Wednesdays in January! The year 2021 is only a month old, and already things seem to be leaning towards the better. As I write this, our hometown Buffalo BILLS were eliminated from Super Bowl contention, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. Although as a BILLS fan it was very disappointing to see our team lose, it was still a hell of a season that many Buffalonians and Westsides will remember. Honestly, I cannot complain, not many of us expected the team to go as far as it did, and all the pieces are there for a good run in the coming years. The BILLS will be back, and good days are ahead. With the turn of the monthly calendar, we are also seeing some positives with the COVID-19 pandemic. This of course is due to the vaccines that have been rolled out but also, with the new Biden administration creating an actual plan for mandating facial coverings in public places. We certainly are still in the thick of this pandemic, however, knowing that we have an administration in the White House that cares about getting a handle on the pandemic, unlike the demagogue rabble rouser that lied to his cultish followers. As we all know, February is the shortest month of the year and before we know it, Pitchers and Catchers will be reporting. March will be here very soon, and just like that, Spring is around the corner. Flowers will bloom, birds will chirp, the sun will shine again, and  the summer sounds and smells of the West Side will be in full force. You may ask, why am I so positive, since we still are in a pandemic that has taken the lives of 400,000 Americans at the time of this writing. You see, we have made it out of 2020. More importantly, we have survived the Trump Years. The Biden administration already has begun to undo many of the harmful executive orders Trump signed early on in his administration. There is talk of additional stimulus packages to help those effected by the economic slowdowns. I for one am hoping there is student loan relief in the works as well. Our country is healing; however, it will take time, especially when you consider 74 million Americans voted for an open white supremacist. Good days are ahead because, my friends, we reached the bottom on January 6th, during Insurrection Day. In 2007, she travelled to Central America where she was instrumental in establishing a shelter for minor girls who are and were physically and sexually abused. A Matter of Health Issues: AVAILABLE FOR SPEAKING  ENGAGEMENTS Ms. Orsini has tirelessly invested over 3 decades of leadership experience in Western New York.  In the late 1970’s she was Director of a Counseling Center in Buffalo. Early 1980s in Buffalo, she was the first president and co-founded of the Hispanic Women’s League, which still stands after over 40 years.  In 1985, she coordinated the first 5-10 hour day fund raiser for the youth of Buffalo. This was closely followed by being Director of Hispanics United of Buffalo, in 1987. During the 1990’s she was a Private Investigator as well as a Bail Investigator.  In 1992, she earned a full 4 -year scholarship, B.A., in Psychology from University of Buffalo. In 2007, she obtained a M.S. with honors. This learning process took her to London, England where she was trained and certified in Solution Focus as Trainer/Mediator.  In the same year, 2007, she elected to go to Central America where she was instrumental in establishing a shelter for minor girls who are and were physically and sexually abused. In 2010, she returned to the states and it brought her to Tallahassee, Florida.  She was hired by the Florida Department of Health and regularly volunteered to handle hotlines whenever there was a statewide medical emergency.  Besides traveling throughout the state to provide training and promotion of safe practices on communicable diseases throughout the state, she was heavily involved in addressing the marginalized Latino population.  Despite medical challenges, in May 2014, she coordinated the First “Tallahassee National Women’s Health Fair.”  In 2017, family issues brought her to southern Florida. March 2017, she pursued training in Trauma Incident Reductions.  Ms. Orsini is often invited to lecture or speak at events, serving as a keynote speaker in recent past events.   Besides various community engagements in New York and Florida, she manages her own health business, Lilly’s D’lites Spa Gifts, which addresses skincare, specializing in product treatment for cancer survivors.  Specialty: Well versed in Women issues, health and mental health issues, Latino history, being Puerto Rican, Human Trafficking, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Cancer, and the legal system.
