PAYING TRIBUTE TO VETERANS
Students at Frontier Middle School have paid tribute to veterans by crafting wooden flags for the second consecutive year. Under the guidance of Will Maher, their technology teacher, the students engaged in a meaningful project that both honors veterans and enhances their carpentry skills.
Eighth graders constructed the flags manually using wood from locally sourced, deceased ash trees, as well as maple and oak, just in time for Veterans Day. These handcrafted flags are then gifted to veterans in the community.
Will Maher, a combat veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps prior to becoming a teacher, regards this project as the most rewarding in his 16 years of teaching.
