La Marchanta (Todos somos La Marchanta * porque viajamos con ideales y metas para un future major para nuestras vidas individuales, familiares y colectivas.)  Buffalo, cuidad fronteriza con el Canada ve la comunidad dominicana emprender un Nuevo futuro en sus calles y avenidas. Este espacio es dedicado a la emprendedora comunidad, y a la vez a las nuevas comunidades immigrantes quienes han llegado a empezar una nueva vida. Es una nueva ruta para todos, yo aprendere de ustedes y humildemente yo espero que ustedes aprendan de mi. Para empezar me gustaria pedirles gentilmente que me envien sus preocupaciones, inquietudes, planes e ideas para ver como nos organizamos y emprendemos juntos un dialogo. Cuales son las inquietudes del dia a dia? Cuales son los planes a corto plazo? A largo plazo, y al fin todas las cosas, eventos y metas que tienen en mente. El momento es propicio pues entramos en la mitad del 2019, pasamos revista, reflexionamos y ejecutamos un plan de trabajo para poder cumples las metas y contribuir a Buffalo, a NY y al mundo. Como nos preparamos para poder participar en plenitude en la vidad civica y comunitaria de este gran estado mientras forjamos un futuro solido para nuestras familias y la comunidad Latina en general? Como les va a nuestros hijos en la escuela? Cual es el nivel de involucramiento civico que tenemos en nuestros distritos escolares? Cual y como son nuestras relaciones con la policia y las dependencias estatales y federales? Como podemos levantar voz de conciencia y participacion, e integrar a aquellos quienes no han participado en el proceso democratico por la razon que sea! Junio es mes de cosecha, que hemos cosechado a mitad del 2019. Que debemos depurar? Y que debemos fertilizar para poder vivir una vida balanceada. CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: YOU MATTER!

Civic engagement is the banner of democratic participation at the Parkway Central Library in Philadelphia. The Free Library of Philadelphia’s mission and vision keeps expanding with addition to their new democratic space.  The Parkway Central Library is a majestic building for all: residents, visitors, returning citizens and homeless Philadelphians. It is not just a library! It is a democratic community that serves all. I have become a regular at the library as I seek to rejuvenate both my brain and spirit. I have had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy book presentations, use their career job seeking center as well as learn through historical presentations from civil rights issues to cartography.  On April 12th, 2019 the Parkway Library opened new spacing in which civic engagement continues to flourish.  As many municipalities prepared themselves to run democratic primaries, I urge everyone to find out where your local legislator and or school board candidate stand on the issue of continued funding for libraries and community engagement. Take a moment and find out who is running in your district, what their agenda and most importantly where do she/he stands on public education, adult literacy, ESL literacy and resources for new Americans. Visit your local library and find out what funding deficit does it have? What are the new programs your community can benefit from? His intellect and zest for life is contagious, he has set out to build foundational blocks of civic engagement for all participants who represent the rich and diverse mosaic of Philadelphia. Native Philadelphians from the North of the City who have been at the forefront of community based humanistic approach and community building in the devastating drug crisis to a sensitive soul who writes spiritual poetry to uplift all no matter faith, creed and status. On the first full day of Spring 2019– under cloudy skies and steady rain he planted the seeds of Teddy Roosevelt on every participant who has had the transforming experience of getting career and professional development workshops every Thursday evening for two hours. Robinson’s vision is clearly crafted and presented by his creative approach to re engineering the lives of every student who has been accepted into the program. His can-do attitude and his leadership development have planted seeds for a new generation of professionals seeking to contribute and grow through civic engagement, volunteerism and empowerment. This initiative needs to be funded and supported throughout all cities in our Nation. Higher Education Institutions are pillars of our fabric. Contributing to the professional and community development of all citizens is a tangible civic engagement contribution.
