REFORMA HUMANITARIA Los acontecimientos en los ultimos dias acerca de los migrantes y personas en busca de asilo politico quienes han llegado a los estados democratas son preocupantes. Los seres humanos no somos fichas de ajedrez ni presas de caza. Somos seres vivientes en busca de la libertad, la felicidad y el derecho a la vida. Entiendo que el derecho al respeto a la ley y el orden es fundamental para la seguridad domestica de las fronteras. Tambien entiendo que somos una nacion de empatia, respeto a la vida y a las segundas oportunidades—donde se puede renacer, reinventarse y progresar mientras se contribuye directamente a la economia y el producto bruto del pais. La mano migrante e inmigrante, la del refugiado y del trabajador quien busca un nuevo comienzo es la mano que ha levantado  y sigue levantado comunidades a traves de toda la nacion. Como podemos trabajar concretamente en una reforma humanitaria en las fronteras que ven llegar a personas y familias en busca de una oportunidad y de cero violencia y corrupcion? Como podemos como cuidadanos concientes y llenos de respeto a la ley y a la vida poner en una balanza equitativa la empatia y el Espiritu de solidaridad y apoyo con los migrantes? Hago un llamado a los legisladores, lideres comunales y educadores a que empezemos una reforma humanitaria. A que trabajemos juntos para resolver la crisis que tenemos. Que respetemos el valor de la vida y la miseria humana con empatia, leyes y reforma humanitaria mirando y apoyando a las comunidades en nuestras cuidades. Somos Uno. No ha distincion del valor de la vida, por el estatus migrante. La valentia y el respeto de nuestros lideres sera medidas  por la manera en que trabajen con los legisladores y encuentren una solucion viable y compasiva a la crisis que estamos viviendo como pueblo. Utilizar la miseria del migrante como papa caliente y politica es un error y es inhumano. Va contra la conciencia y el espiritu de nuestra nacion y de nuestra persona colectiva. Que esta pasando? Hasta cuando nos dejaremos manipular? No es justo, no es humano! El momento es ahora, y no debemos dejar que el miedo ni la demagogia nos roben nuestra decencia. Levanta tu voz! HOW TO CONSUME MEDIA WHILE AVOIDING PROPAGANDA Let’s start by stating the obvious, corporate media not only lies but also manipulates people into believing whatever their publishers want them to believe. Press used to be about revealing facts and letting people come to their conclusions; that is long dead. Solution: Independent media, Problem: It is too small and niche.  There are usually good, independent media outlets out there covering specific things, local news, business news, etc. Sadly, very few if not all of them will cover global topics without a specific angle. Quite sadly that angle also tends to be what hooks people up. You just must make sure that angle is not clouding their objectivity, or it is not too skewed. For example, China is Uncensored, sure it is always negative of China but if you want positive coverage of China, you can go to business news (because they will cover China positively out of fear of getting banned from China) or state-sponsored propaganda. Unfortunately, sometimes you need the bigger picture or the latest updates around the world which is what mainstream or corporate media specializes in. I have talked a few times about why they are horrid, but I think the picture here will summarize it: Some topics are fortunately pretty cut and dry such as the war in Ukraine. As such I find myself going to the BBC News coverage simply because independent media may not have the resources for the extensive coverage. As a result, while certainly my opinion of the situation may be tainted, in situations where things are black and white, we cannot deny the resources of the corporate media are certainly superior. In other words, it is fine to consume mainstream corporate media but only for the topics where the answer is clear to you. Just remember that this ease of access can leave you vulnerable to propaganda should you cover other topics. THE POLITICAL STORM IS HERE, AND YOUR VOTE, PERHAPS, CAN STOP IT

By now you should know that there is a storm coming — and I’m not talking about the weather! The Republican Party has given up on democracy and decided to go all the way with the BIG LIE. I urge and plead with my community that we must all register to vote, be ready to vote in the upcoming midterm elections, and prepared to vote in the 2024 presidential elections. We must begin today! Please register, and get your family, friends, and colleagues to register to vote as well. The democratic political system is being challenged by a racist and right-wing conservative movement. They want to cleanse America of all people of color, of those that don’t think like them, they want to cleanse same-sex marriage, and eliminate the right of a woman to have her own choice when it comes to her body. I know many people have problems with the Democratic organization, locally, statewide, and with our national leaders. I am not happy with President Biden, I’m not too happy with the way democrats have taken my people for granted (Puerto Ricans/Latinos), but believe me, it’s going to be a lot worst, like 1000% a lot worst under the Republican and Conservative politicians. Let us prepare to vote for the democratic candidates in the midterm elections and 2023. After that, we can all unite and put the democratic organization in its place. Honestly, I would love to see another democrat run for president in 2024, he is too weak for me, but I will vote for him if he is the only democrat running against the madness of the other side. We need to protect the democratic experiment. Racism and Fascism are alive in this country. WE CAN’T CONTINUE TO COMPLAIN; WE MUST REGISTER TO VOTE, ORGANIZE, AND WORK TOGETHER TO PRESERVE DEMOCRACY. As for our problem with the democrats, after we defeat the madness, we can organize and go after the bad democrats. Believe me, I know many of them, but they are not racist or fascist.
