SO MANY THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN PR

May 2019 Issue

Our government getting into Venezuela and helping them financially and politically but we, as people, are living under a dictatorship of seven people under a “Promesa” law that is hurting us without care of the people suffering and opinions. Also, taking money to help others when Puerto Rico still in need of help. All these to give the impression that we are ok, but at the same time sending people to Washington to beg for money. Ironies of politics.
Our crisis in the Health Department, Forensic Department, the Governor Cabinet, emigration of our people, etc. still our daily bread.
So. I am going to take a break and just write about something that gives me peace and is my passion: the arts.
We are giving by granted that the manifestations of humanities are something vague and is not important. Perhaps in a capitalist word is true. But Humanities happened for a reason century’s ago. Without them, we are heading to a down the hill “I don’t care about you” path. Or maybe, we are in it already.
Arts have its origin within our subconscious level. It maybe manipulated or manifested in our conscious level but, the drive to make an art manifestation is beyond our comprehension. We sing, we dance, we write, we paint and by doing that, we not only enter into a level of compliance but, also, communicated in a deeper level with the others. An artist is able of sublime his or her issues through the arts and maintain a balance in his or her life.
It has been more than a decade that the Department of Education canceled the art, theater and music classes in P.R. It is mot a surprise to me why we are having more aggressive students, more apathy toward social issues and more disassociated people with reality. I can not prove that, but I know that an artist can use arts as catharsis of life frustration and that brings an exit of our emotions. Also, I have experience that autistic and HDD students can use arts as a mean to communicate and to direct their emotions. So, in order to fill the hole created by the lack of arts in our schools, we have been forced to create community programs and spaces in order to people to channel emotions.
It is my suggestion to parents and community in general to use art programs available in communities if their schools lack of those programs. Instead of the TV and interactive games, send your kids to art programs. If there such programs in your community, support them. Surround your homes with art pieces. That will give an atmosphere of tranquility and piece. Play soft or music with messages, Dance yourself at the tune of those music. Simply, let the arts be part of your home. You will witness a transformation in your kids and yourself.

TOO MANY THINGS HAPPENING IN PUERTO RICO

April 2019 Issue

Our government  is getting involve in  Venezuela,  helping them financially and politically,  but we in Puerto Rico are living under a dictatorship of seven people under a “Promesa law” that is hurting us without care of the people who are suffering.
Our government taking money to help others while Puerto Rico continues to be in need of social and economic assistance, and all this to give the impression that we are ok in the island, but at the same time we continue sending politicians to Washington to beg for money. The ironies of politics.
Our crisis in the Health Department, Forensic Department, the Governor’s Cabinet, emigration of our people —  still our daily bread.
So. I am going to take a break and just write about something that gives me peace and is my passion:

THE ARTS!

Many believe that the manifestation of the humanities is vague and not important. Perhaps, in a capitalist world, it is true. We need to understand and accept that the humanities happened for a reason many centuries ago. Without them, we are heading to a down the hill attitude, “I don’t care about you” path. Or maybe, perhaps, we are there already.
Arts have its origin within our subconscious level. It may be manipulated or manifested in our conscious level but, the drive to make an art manifestation is beyond our comprehension.
We sing, we dance, we write, we paint, and by doing so, we not only enter into a level of compliance but, we are also capable of communicating in a deeper level with others, able to maintain a level of subliminal balance in his or her life.
It has been more than a decade that the Department of Education canceled the art, theater and music classes in Puerto Rico. It is no surprise why we are having more aggressive students, more apathy toward social issues and more disassociated people with reality.
I can not prove that, but I know that an artist can use arts as catharsis of life frustration, and that brings an exit to our emotions. I have experience that autistic and HDD students can use arts as a mean to communicate and to direct their emotions. So, to fill the hole created by the lack of arts in our schools, we have been forced to create community programs for people to channel their emotions.
This is my suggestion, my message to our people; begin to appreciate and utilize the art programs that are already available in our communities. Instead of television and interactive games, why not send your kids to art programs? If there such programs in your community, support them. Surround your homes with art pieces. That will give an atmosphere of tranquility and piece. Play and share with them, but music with positive messages.
Dance to yourself at the tune of the music. Simply, let the arts be part of your home. You will witness a transformation in your kids.
